Types of Instruments
An orchestra consists of four sections of musical instruments
depending on how they are played, these are Strings (eg cello, violin, guitar, viola etc), Woodwind (eg bassoon, clarinet, flute etc),
Brass (eg cornet, trumpet, tuba etc), Percussion (eg cymbals, drums, xylopone etc), . Each section has a number of instruments
in them, a more detailed description is given in each of the pages
within this section of the website. All the instruments have their unique sound and if a child wishes to learn a new instrument it is probably a good idea to see if you can borrow an instrument through school so that they can try diffferent ones before deciding on the one they like best.
