Brass Tuition
Sharon Stansfield F.V.C.M (Hons) -
Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire
Sharon is a Fellow of the Victoria College of Music
with honours, F.V.C.M. (Hons) in conducting and holds a bronze
medal in arranging. She also holds an A.V.C.M. in cornet playing,
Grade VIII trumpet, Grade VI theory, Grade V tenor horn and Grade
I piano.
Sharon teaches all brass instruments from soprano
cornet to Eb Bass.
The majority of her pupils play the cornet, trumpet or tenor horn (Sharon's specialist
instruments). The age range is
from 6 to 75. Sharon also teaches musical theory. Sharon first started teaching
the learner classes at Long Eaton Silver Prize
Band when
she was 14! She was soon asked to take on private pupils, who she
has taught ever since. She offers home tuition or tuition at her
own music studio.
Sharon has been involved with many bands and whilst the Long
Eaton Silver Prize Band and Long Eaton Training Band
are Sharon's first appointments as a musical director, she has conducted
many other brass bands including:
Kirkby Colliery Welfare as band master and deputy conductor

- Melbourne Town as guest conductor
- Rolls-Royce ( Derby ) as guest conductor
- Shirland as guest conductor

- Snibston and Desford B as guest conductor
- Newstead Welfare Band at a NABBC seminar
Sharon has enjoyed unprecedented success with Long Eaton, taking
the band from the bottom of the fourth section to two successive
national finals and promotion to the third section, winning numerous
prizes during this time. Sharon has also found time to form her
own big/dance band The
Anything Blows Dance Band where she is the band
leader and lead trumpet.
Sharon has been a member of the National
Association of Brass Band Conductors since 1999.
